The forest changes as soon as you experience it on two wheels. What otherwise seems calm and wide suddenly becomes dynamic. Bends follow each other, the ground works, your gaze is directed forwards. It is precisely this interplay of nature and movement that characterises the mountain bike trails around the WALD.WEIT Rheingau Hotel & Retreat.

The 2026 season opened here in mid-March - with an event that showed what makes this place so special for mountain bikers: openness, community and the joy of riding.

Start of the 2026 season: A weekend centred around the sport of mountain biking

Despite the changeable weather, numerous visitors found their way to Kiedrich on the Hahnwald plateau. Many took the opportunity to ride the trails for the first time this season, test new bikes and socialise with other riders.

The event kicked off on Friday evening in the WALD.TROPFEN bar. Participants, partners and guests came together in a relaxed atmosphere to kick off the weekend. Conversations about technology, routes and experiences on the bike mingled with the view over the Rheingau - a calm start to an active weekend.

On Saturday, riding took centre stage. Together with our partner Wurzelwerke, we offered two workshops aimed at different levels of experience. While beginners gained confidence on the bike in the basic technique workshop, advanced riders were able to refine their own technique on the trail.

Sunday was the highlight: Managing Director Tim Gemünden officially opened the trails for the 2026 season. Afterwards, the trails filled up quickly - many people used the day to ride the lines, try out new sections and spend time together on their bikes.

Mountain biking at WALD.WEIT: trails, training and new retreats

A varied mountain bike programme has developed around WALD.WEIT that appeals to different riding levels and uses the forest as a natural adventure space. The flow trails run directly through the terrain and combine flowing lines, technical passages and wide views to create a harmonious overall picture. The offer is complemented by targeted training opportunities:

A practice course, riding technique courses and guided sessions create space to gain confidence on the bike or to further develop your own technique. The focus is not only on the sporting challenge, but above all on the feeling for movement, rhythm and flow. If you want to immerse yourself more deeply in this experience, WALD.WEIT offers various retreat formats that combine mountain biking with relaxation, dialogue and personal development.

Engine Ladies Camp: trails, yoga and flow in the Rheingau

The Engine Ladies Camp from 13 to 16 August 2026 combines mountain biking, yoga and time together on the bike to create an intensive summer weekend at WALD.WEIT. Guided trail laps, mindful riding technique training and small groups with a maximum of 12 participants create space for individual development and a personal atmosphere - regardless of riding level. The hotel's own flow trails start directly at the hotel, complemented by selected routes in the region, while yoga sessions and mental stimuli provide balance, regeneration and focus. The result is a harmonious interplay of movement and rest - on the trail and on the mat. A compact, high-quality camp for all those who want to experience mountain biking in the Rheingau with new energy and perspective.

MTB Trailcamp 2026: Four days on the bike in the middle of the forest

If you want to experience the trail experience in autumn, the MTB Trailcamp from 8 to 11 October 2026 is the perfect setting: Guided trail laps, targeted training and small groups with a maximum of 12 participants ensure intensive support and noticeable progress - regardless of riding level. The hotel's own flow trails start directly at the hotel, while additional spots in the region extend the experience without long distances. At the same time, there is room for relaxation: evenings together, regional cuisine and retreats such as the rooftop sauna create a balance between activity and tranquillity. An extended, high-quality bike weekend for all those who want to experience the Rheingau more intensively on a mountain bike.

We are looking forward to an active bike season!

The opening weekend made one thing clear above all: the trails are not just being used - they are being lived. With the official opening, WALD.WEIT is starting a new season that goes far beyond individual events. Further workshops, retreats and joint tours are planned - always focussing on a trail experience that blends naturally into the landscape. Special thanks go to all partners and supporters who made this weekend possible, including Staubtänzer, Wurzelwerke, All Mountains, Tri-Cycles, DIMB, Nicolaibike, Bike Fun, Rotwild and e-motion. Stefan Breuer also made an important contribution to the overall experience with his wines.
